Kevin brings a depth of healthcare finance experience to the CFO role at Hot Springs Health. Born in rural Minnesota, Kevin attended Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration/Accounting. Kevin spent a couple years early in his career in Public Accounting auditing and preparing Medicare Cost Reports for rural hospitals throughout Minnesota and the Dakotas. During that time he passed the Certified Public Accounts exam after which he went directly into the industry as a Chief Financial Officer at a hospital in his home state of Minnesota. During that time Kevin developed a cost accounting/decision support database product. He took this product into a small business opportunity and began consulting with hospitals throughout the US which lasted 12 years.
Having a desire to get back directly into the industry, Kevin worked at facilities in North Carolina, back to Minnesota and then to Juneau Alaska before settling in Thermopolis. He feels blessed to have experienced and seen the beauty and wonder of the country throughout his travels during his career. He enjoys hiking, camping, skiing and just about anything outdoors. Experiences that he shares with his longtime companion, Maria who shares his passion for the outdoors.
CFO Duties:
Kevin is responsible for financial reporting and recordkeeping, cash management, revenue cycle and daily financial activities. His administrative duties include Finance, Patient Financial Services, Health Information Services, Purchasing and Information Technology.

Verlene’s career path has allowed her to serve in a variety of organizations like Mayo Clinic in MN, Providence Health in the Pacific Northwest, the Aultman Health Foundation in OH, and most recently as an executive team member for the WellStar Medical Group. While with the WellStar Medical Group, Verlene integrated its West Georgia physician practices group into the hospital-based WMG system; collaborating with the teams to increase revenue streams and patient access through efficient operations, incorporated value-based provider compensation, and lead strong physician and community partnerships.
Verlene earned her masters of health care administration degree from the University of Missouri in Columbia. She is board- certified by ACHE and holds the ACHE Fellow designation. Verlene has served on several American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) national and regional committees and is a recipient of the ACHE Early Career Award. Verlene is also an involved alumna at the University of Missouri, serving as a mentor to graduate students.
Having lost both of her parents at an early age; being their primary caregiver and seeing first hand the difficulty of obtaining medical care in an underserved rural community, left a lasting impression on Verlene. This life experience would become a key driver in her ultimate goal of returning to a rural environment and making a difference.
Verlene wanted to learn best practices from high performing organizations, and then take those years of experience, practice, and career-long commitment, and use that knowledge to serve and improve care in a rural environment.
Verlene’s family, including her husband, grown children and three granddaughters, are the center of her life. Her favorite things include spending time with loved ones, enjoying the outdoors and living a simple well balanced live.
Verlene joined HSH in 2021 as a consultant with HealthTech, and accepted the Chief Physician Clinics Officer shortly thereafter.
